in Manhattan (Edited from the book
    jacket cover)
Veteran show business personality Steve Allen is
back in another wickedly entertaining mystery!
After his previous adventures, Steve has sworn off solving
mysteries--blood, viole3nce, and especially those exhausting chases are just not his cup
of tea.  What does intrigue him, however, is the offer to play a cameo role in a
movie being shot in Manhattan, a part that involves dressing up as Superman.  Steve
Allen has always wanted to play Superman, ever since the days when his marked resemblance
to Clark Kent was a running joke.  So he graciously takes time out from his
jam-packed schedule and flies to New York.
Wearing his Superman costume on the set, Steve can almost
feel his superpowers taking over...But he abruptly returns to earth when an unscripted
murder occurs--and the victim lands in Steve's outstretched arms!  Once again the
affable comedian is at the heart of a sensational murder case.  The police are
stumped.  Only Steve Allen--with help, this time, of his vivacious wife Jayne
Meadows--knows the show-biz world well enough to divine the motives, the ambitions, the
desire behind the beautiful faces--and to solve the whodunit in a manner worthy of Agatha
    Christie herself!
